Ok, you decide… White Stripes or Raconteurs. Both unique, both awesome, both brain-children of the one and only Jack White. The White Stripes obviously have far more songs, as the Raconteurs have only released 2 albums, but I honestly have to give The Raconteurs the edge in the rock-your-face-off department. Case in point (turn this shit up):
In relation to my previous post below, the White Stripes are going to play live once again on Late Night With Conan O’Brien this friday night, Feb 20th (This is the final late night show forever… conan is moving to the tonight show). The information comes from the music site NME. Click Here for more info
So in celebration here is the White Stripes’ song Icky Thumb from their 2007 album, Icky Thump. Its a rockin’ track, enjoy and check them out on friday, I certainly will be.

Dan Auerbach is the guitarist and singer for the great alternative blues band, The Black Keys. He recently released a solo album titled, “Keep It Hid.” Seeing that the Black Keys are a badass band, you cannot go wrong with him making his own music. Its not a bad album, quite good in fact, but its kind of like the White Stripes/Raconteurs argument. The Stripes are definitely better than the Raconteurs (yeah sully) and in comparison, The Black Keys are better as a whole than individually.
This song is called Heartbroken, In Disrepair. The guitar is really sweet and the drums play well with the tone of the guitar.

The Mars Volta-Eriatarka

The band is named The Blue Party, they are from Now Orleans. I lived with Reid this summer for a while in LA, i remember the first time I heard him play was one night when a few people from the hostel went on a walk and he took a guitar, it was great. For the rest of the summer whether it was in our house or late night at the beach Reid was always playing his songs, good memories.
P.S. he’s the one that looks the most goofy in the pic, thats his style… man.

In case you missed the Grammys last night, here was Radiohead’s performance. They played 15 Step with the percussion done by the USC marching band. It was actually only Thom Yorke and Jonny Greenwood, from radiohead, who played. They ended up winning best alternative music album for their album In Rainbows. Stanely Donwood won Best Box or Special Limited Edition Package for his work on the discbox for In Rainbows. Unfortunately, Radiohead did not win Best Album (even they should have). Congrats to the guys for a winning and hope the new album is coming along and it be release sooner than later.

Jack Johnson and Zach Gill have done a lot of the work for you. I mean this song will really do it… Anyway, I mentioned Zach Gill because Jack credits him at the beginning of the song. Zach played in a band called ALO which used to open up for Jack, now I believe he is a member of Jack’s band. Check out his music here. Now that we’re on the subject of Jack Johnson you should check out the cool things he does to help mother earth becuase we do in fact live here… and all.

This song is called DLZ from the 2008 TV on the Radio album Dear Science. Its a great song as well as a great album. A couple of music sites/magazines named it within their top 50 albums of 2008, sometimes even being ranked within the top 5. Check it out, its a good listen, there are a few songs that I don’t enjoy but overall its a good listen.
The percussion is sick in this song.
Overall Grade: A-

I don’t know much about this guy, except that he loves playing music, and he’s pretty damn good at it.
