I just popped on facebook today and saw a music video from my buddy’s band Secret Music. How much do I know about this band? Not a whole lot. Do I own any of their CD’s? No. Did I throw this post up because there are some familiar faces from our small town in the video, once again. No. I was super stoked when I heard this track Ghost in the Graveyard because it totally brought me back. I don’t think Chase is trying to sound like music we used to rock out to but I do think that he has captured what we used to love to listen to in his music today. Rock on buddy!

One of my Chinese students showed me Jamie T and needless to say I’m not always this stoked about foreign music I come across in the middle kingdom. I’m pretty sure all of my English friends resent me listening to this guy because it’s fuel to the fire for my ridiculous accent that surfaces all too often. Anyway Jamie T has a real nitty gritty type of Cockney swag. These two tracks are from the album ‘Panic Prevention’. ’s totally mint loike.

I immediately recognized the first track because Pretty Lights samples it in ‘Finally Moving‘. With the help of Youtube, then Pandora, then Wikipedia I am now really into Nightmares On Wax. Since I just gave away all my sources on the subject im just gonna throw in a quote here:

The second release from Montreal based Plants and Animals is a solid follow up from their first album Parc Avenue which is an incredible debut album. This record is a bit more “plugged in” and dutifully represents the feeling that the city of Los Angeles projects; which is where this album was recorded.

Well, 2010 is finally starting to come to a close. Now only 2 more years til the world comes to an end! 2012 people, 2012 people. I thought the year was a great year of music with some really good and listenable albums put out by a wide array of artists. I’m beginning to have feelings that popular music is starting to get good again and the bands are actually playing instruments. Indie and the obscure are becoming mainstream and I’m thrilled about it.

So I figured to take the opportunity to post about my favorite albums of the year and also give YOU the pleasure to download the albums and formulate your own opinions. 2010 was a year of ups-and-downs for me. Throughout the past year, I discovered a lot about true friends, hardship, and making the best for yourself to ensure a positive future. These albums certainly eased the progression that one endures throughout a calender year:
